OK. Sew Mama Sew is holding a contest for one lucky person to win a new Husqvarna Viking s21 serger. This is why I want one:
I love to sew. LOVE to sew. I love making clothes for myself and my kids. Halloween costumes, decor items, napkins, you name it. I love how I can have a creative outlet through sewing and get something pleasing and functional as an end result of a project. However, with two kids I need to be able to do any sewing quickly and accurately. I have a Singer sewing machine that I love for regular sewing. It has never done me wrong. The Singer serger that I received from a friend is another story. My friend upgraded and gave me her Singer serger and I have had nothing but problems. I had it serviced and brought back to factory specs. It worked for exactly one project. I loved using the serger! It was so fast and the seams were so nicely finished. So I moved on to my next project, changed the thread and tensions according to the manual. Then it unthreaded itself. I rethreaded it. It didn't loop. It unthreaded again. Cue swearing. This went on for weeks. I never got it working again. I finally made peace with the fact that I couldn't get it working, decided to go back to pinking shears and/or french seams, and I was much happier.
I also lost my sewing room this summer as that room is now my son's room. My sewing area is now in the hallway. I know I can survive with just my regular sewing machine, but I would love to have a reliable serger that I can move around and not have to worry that it will quit working if I look at it wrong. I might also be able to start selling things on Etsy if I had a serger and could make things quickly.
I know this entry isn't as fancy as some. I don't have pictures or video to tell my tale, just my words. I hope they convey my story and my wish for a new serger. Thanks for reading!

Catching up
OK - so I didn't really realize that it had been over a year since I'd been here. Life happens, right? The kids have been keeping me busy. My son is in second grade now, and school has had a definite impact on our daily life. They didn't tell me that homework for him also meant homework for me. :) Just keeping up with getting him to school, housework, taking care of my 2 year old, picking him up from school, homework, supper, baths, bedtime, whew, my day just flies by.
I haven't been doing much in the way of projects. Although I have painted the living room and my son's room. My next project is curtains for his room. Hopefully I can get to that today or tomorrow, and get him moved into his "new" room this weekend. Then I get to paint my daughter's room, new curtains, etc.
I have also been struggling with an aging computer and all the associated problems. I'm working on a laptop at the moment, and that is working better. Once I get the technical issues ironed out, I'll post some pictures.
I have a pile of sewing projects to get to, crafts, garden, household, etc. I'm working through a list, and I'll post more on that later. Hope all is well with all of you out there, wherever you are. :)
